Keep the demo open on the screen the whole time — if it closes, the demo ends.

Need help getting started?

Pick your screen for step-by-step help. You’ll know it worked when the screen shows a big square code and the words FREE DEMO.

On a smart TV Samsung, LG, Fire TV, Roku…

Make sure your TV is connected to the internet, then follow the steps for your TV. Type tryat.app exactly like that — no “www”, no spaces.

Samsung Smart TV

  1. Press the Home button on your remote.
  2. Open the app called Internet.
  3. Select the long bar at the top of the screen.
  4. Type tryat.app and press Enter (or Done).

LG Smart TV

  1. Press the Home button on your remote.
  2. Open the app called Web Browser.
  3. Select the long bar at the top of the screen.
  4. Type tryat.app and press Enter.

Amazon Fire TV or Fire TV Stick

  1. Open the app called Silk Browser. Don’t have it? Go to Find (the magnifying glass), search for Silk, and download it — it’s free.
  2. Select Search or enter web address.
  3. Type tryat.app and select Go.

Roku, Apple TV, Google TV, or another TV

These usually don’t have a web browser. The easiest way is to plug a laptop into your TV with an HDMI cable — see On a laptop or computer below.

Have a Chromecast or Google TV? Open the demo on a computer in Google Chrome, click the ⋮ menu, choose Cast…, and pick your TV. Have an Apple TV? Open the demo on a Mac or iPad and use Screen Mirroring.

🎮 Typing with your TV remote

Use the arrow buttons to move around the keyboard on the screen, and press OK (the middle button) to pick each letter. The dot ( . ) is usually next to the letters or under a “.com” or symbols key.

On a laptop or computer Windows or Mac
  1. Open your web browser

The app you use to visit websites — like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Safari.

  2. Click the long bar at the very top and type tryat.app

Then press Enter (Return on a Mac).

  3. Click once anywhere on the page

It fills your whole screen. Press Esc any time to shrink it back.

📺 Want it on your TV? Plug in your laptop

  1. Plug one end of an HDMI cable into your laptop and the other end into your TV. (Newer laptops may need a small USB-C to HDMI adapter.)
  2. On your TV remote, press Input or Source and pick the HDMI you plugged into.
  3. Still nothing on the TV? On Windows, hold the Windows key and press P, then choose Duplicate. On a Mac, open System Settings → Displays and choose to mirror your screen.
On a tablet iPad or Android tablet
  1. Turn it sideways and stand it up

    Where everyone can see it.

  2. Open Safari (iPad) or Chrome (Android) and go to tryat.app

Tap the bar at the top, type it, and tap Go.

  3. Keep it plugged in and awake

If it goes to sleep, the demo can stop. Use your phone — not the tablet — to scan and play.

On your phone Scanning the code and the text message
  1. Open the regular Camera app and point it at the square code on your screen. You don’t need to take a picture.

  2. Tap the link that pops up on your phone.

  3. Type your mobile number and tap Text me a code.

  4. Type in the 6-number code we text you. Many phones fill it in for you — just tap it above the keyboard.

  5. Pick a nickname and tap Join. The game starts on your screen!

📷 Camera won’t scan?

Open the web browser on your phone, go to play.athenatrivia.com/demo, and type in the code shown at the bottom of your screen.

Something not working?

I can’t find a web browser on my TV.

Some TVs don’t have one — Roku, Apple TV, and many Google TVs, for example. The easiest fix is to plug a laptop into your TV with an HDMI cable — see On a laptop or computer above.

The code on my screen changed.

That’s normal. It changes every 10 minutes to stay secure. Just scan the new one.

My phone’s camera doesn’t do anything.

Hold your phone steady, about an arm’s length away, so the whole square fits on your phone’s screen. Still nothing? Open the web browser on your phone, go to play.athenatrivia.com/demo, and type in the code shown at the bottom of your screen.

I didn’t get a text.

Give it a minute — texts can be slow. Check that your number is right, then tap Resend code. The demo can only text mobile numbers in the US and Canada.

It says my number has had its free demos.

Each phone number gets 2 free demos. Liked it? Start a free trial and get everything at your venue.

The screen went back to the start.

The demo ended — maybe the page was closed, the screen turned off, or the internet dropped. Go to tryat.app again to start over. If your number has a demo left, you can play again.

Do I need to sign up or download anything?

No. There’s no account, no credit card, and nothing to download. Just a screen and your phone.
