Describe a color in three words. Everyone tries to match it.
In Chromatic, one player sees a secret color on their phone and gives a clue of up to three words. Everyone else picks the shade they think it is on a color picker, and the closer they get, the more points they score.
Then the clue-giver sees everyone’s first guesses and gets one more clue to steer them home.

How a round of Chromatic plays
- 1
See the secret color
The clue-giver’s phone shows the target color. Nobody else can see it.
- 2
Give a clue
They type a clue of up to three words, and it goes up big on the TV.
- 3
Pick your shade
Guessers choose a color on their phones in two steps: a broad pick, then fine-tuning. You can change your mind until time runs out.
- 4
Second clue, second guess
The clue-giver sees everyone’s first picks, without names, and sends a second clue. Guessers refine their pick.
- 5
The reveal
The TV shows the real color, both clues, and every guesser’s best shade, ranked by how close it came.
Why bars run Chromatic
- Simple to learn: read a clue, pick a color
- Scored on how close your shade looks to the real one
- Two guesses per turn, and the better one counts
- Clue-givers score for every player who gets close
Chromatic questions
How is Chromatic scored?
Each guess earns up to 100 points depending on how close it looks to the secret color. A guess that’s too far off scores zero, and your better guess of the two counts. The clue-giver earns points for every guesser who scores.
What makes a good clue?
Anything that paints a picture in three words or fewer, like “ripe avocado,” “old denim,” or “flamingo.” References everyone in the room shares work best.
How long does a round take?
Each player gives clues once per round, and a turn takes under three minutes, so a round grows with the size of the group.
Every game is included
One subscription runs the whole library. In community mode, guests vote on the next game after every round, so Chromatic mixes with the rest to keep the night moving.
