Trivia

Bar trivia that runs itself

Questions go up on your TVs and guests answer from their phones. Athena times every question, scores every answer, and puts the leaderboard on screen after every round, so nobody has to host.

And it’s more than multiple choice. Twelve question types keep the night varied, from true or false and fill in the blank to map taps, audio clips, and estimation.

How a round of Trivia plays

  1. 1

The question goes up on the TV

Every TV in the venue shows the question, the countdown, and a live point value that drops as the clock runs. Phones show only the answer controls, so eyes stay on the big screen.

  2. 2

    Guests answer on their phones

Tap a choice, type an answer, put items in order, or tap a spot on a picture or map. Typed answers forgive small typos.

  3. 3

    The answer is revealed

When time runs out, or as soon as everyone has answered, the TV reveals the answer and how many people got it right. Each phone shows whether you got it.

  4. 4

    Leaderboard after every round

After the last question, the TV shows the round results: a top-three podium, everyone’s points for the round, and the running totals. Then the next round starts, and by default guests vote on what to play.

Why bars run Trivia

  • No host needed: questions, timing, and scoring run automatically
  • Twelve question types, from multiple choice to map taps and audio clips
  • Quick answers pay: up to double points for an instant right answer
  • Set questions per round, time per question, and difficulty from your dashboard

Trivia questions

Do we need someone to host?

No. The TV shows every question, the timer, the answer, and the scores, and Athena moves on by itself. If staff want control, the dashboard lets them pause, skip ahead, or restart a round.

What kinds of questions are there?

Multiple choice, true or false, free text, fill in the blank, ordering, estimation, image choice, hot spot, map tap, audio clip, video clip, and progressive clues, where hints unblur one at a time. Audio and video clips play on guests’ phones.

How is trivia scored?

A right answer earns the question’s points plus a speed bonus: up to double for an instant answer, falling to the base points at the buzzer. Ordering and estimation questions give partial credit for getting close, and near misses on map and picture taps still score.

Can we change the difficulty or the number of questions?

Yes. In your venue settings you can choose questions per round (1 to 50), seconds per question, the highest difficulty level (1 to 5), and whether the speed bonus is on.

Can guests play as teams?

Each phone plays under one nickname. A table that wants to compete as a team can share a phone and use the team name as its nickname.

Every game is included

One subscription runs the whole library. In community mode, guests vote on the next game after every round, so Trivia mixes with the rest to keep the night moving.
