Twelve letters. Ninety seconds. How many words?
Everyone gets the same twelve letters on the TV. Spell as many words as you can on your phone before the clock runs out, and each word is checked the instant you send it.
Your words stay on your phone, so nobody can copy. When time’s up, the TV reveals the best words of the round and the hidden gems nobody found.

Letters on the TV
Twelve letter tiles go up on every screen, picked so there are always plenty of words to find.
- 2
Spell on your phone
Tap tiles or type. Each word is checked right away, and you see your points or the reason it didn’t count. Stuck? Shuffle the letters, up to three times a round.
- 3
Watch the count climb
The TV shows how many words each player has found and pops up points as they land, without giving the words away.
- 4
The reveal
The TV ranks everyone and shows the ten best words of the round, plus the longest words nobody spotted.
Why bars run Wordsmith
- Longer words score far more: 1 point for three letters, 20 for eight
- Every letter set is checked to make sure it holds plenty of words
- Words stay private on each phone until the reveal
- Hidden gems at the end show what everyone missed
Wordsmith questions
How does Wordsmith scoring work?

Which words count?
English words of three letters or more from Wordsmith’s dictionary of over 8,000 words, spelled from the letters on screen.
What are hidden gems?
Words of five letters or more that were there to be found but nobody spelled. Up to ten are revealed at the end of each round.
